WOMANKIND cupcakes

I sold cupcakes at my husband Rich's band's recent show here (he is above playing the bass in the background!) in Vancouver. Just for fun. They were special WOMANKIND cupcakes, earl grey cupcakes with earl grey buttercream... For years I used to play music and do some touring, lots of trips round North America -- Canada and the United States via van with hilarious bandmates, and even a month long trip to Europe touring and playing music with friends. So I've seen and worked a lot of merch tables in my day. Records, CDs, buttons, stickers... why not CUPCAKES? Scott, the bearded and delightful singer of Womankind, is a real tea drinker and tea lover. So I made earl grey tea cupcakes as kind of a thematic thing. Scott also is an illustrator, and he hand-drew two tshirts for the show. So the merch table was cupcakes, each with their own little WOMANKIND themed flag, and two tshirts... !!

It was fun. Next time I want to make ice cream sandwiches for their merch table... hehe...

Heather & James Nuptial Cuteness

wedding cupcakes for spring fete!

Love the bright and contrasty colours of Heather and James's gorgeous cupcake wedding tower. When we showed up to set up the cakes, Heather's cousin was there waiting for us and her dress happened to match the cupcake colours exactly so I had to snap her pic!! So cute!

I met sweet Heather at last year's Indie I Do wedding fair and I was very glad to be able to be a part of her lovely wedding day! Raspberry Rose, Coconut Dream and Coco Cake Chocolate rounded out the tiers of cupcakes, and I made matching arty crafty little flags for the cakes too. The wedding was at Heritage Hall here in Vancouver, and Rich came to help me set up and we had a memory flashback or when we got married at the very same place in January 20o7! Ah l'amour. Heehee!

Congratulations Heather and James!!

Yay Baby Ajay! Baby Shower Cake & Cupcakes

For a lovely soiree for sweet Natallie and her adorable little 2 month old Ajay, Natallie ordered up a whole bunch of specialty cupcakes and a matching cake. She requested a theme of light blue and white for the cupcakes, and of course little baby faces and baby blocks and a matching Baby Face cake. Holy cuteness. I was really stoked on trying out making little baby faces and a baby faced cake! I love trying stuff I've never done before. Challenges are good, creative problem solving can be fun... unless you're stuck, which is a real drag! Luckily I haven't felt too stuck lately... The Coco Cake flavours were Coconut Dream and Vanilla cupcakes, and a 9 inch vanilla specialty Baby Face cake!!! I was worried this might turn out creepy, but I think I got the cuteness down!

I felt extremely excited and happy about how these little baby faces and baby blocks turned out. I also made some cute little paper flags to stick into the cupcakes that didn't have fondant on them. Joy, joy! Too fun/funny. And out of all the baby faces, Rich's favourite is the crying one... Aiyahhh, Rich!!
