Bow Wow Wow Yippee Yo Yippee Yay - Bulldog Cake

Hello, Hunter the dog! How cute is this little bulldog named Hunter?? Elaine, who currently resides in the Yukon, wanted to surprise one of her best pals Veronika here in Vancouver with a very special Coco Cake... in the likeness of her beloved bulldog, Hunter the pup! Secret arrangements were made, pictures of Hunter were sent to me, and a little doggy cake was created. The cake was a dark chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and chocolate ganache filling... Veronika, the birthday girl, is also the proprietor of the very lovely and clothes-covet-able Vancouver shop Lark!

Elaine is so awesome too as she has also been giving me running tips via email, helping me towards my goal of completing my first half-marathon (13.1 miles) here in Vancouver, in May! Hooray! Thanks for the great order Elaine, and for all the running advice!

Who Let The Dogs Out!

Yep. I did just call my post that. Woof!

How much did I love doing this hilarious sheep dog cake and cute little bulldog cupcakes? So much. Last year, Melissa ordered a "rat" cake for her best friend Tina's birthday. This year, for Tina's 30th, it was "dog" themed... ! Plus, they all went to Vegas. Not too shabby of a birthday, I must say!!

The sheepdog is actually a dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream underneath the furry white vanilla buttercream and fondant eyes, nose and tongue! The little bulldogs are Coco Chocolate, with fondant faces.

Get ready for a picture explosion below!

Kibbles n bitz and bitz and bitz.

"Hello.... are you even LISTENING to me, Sheepdawg??"

Bulldog and party flag!

"It's just me"

"I'm a different bulldog!"

Oh it was tough to say goodbye to this face.

"Must love dogs"

Sheepdog feeling a bit claustrophobic.

"Just the four of us... "

Loving these animals cakes! So fun.

Til next time, Coco Cake Land!

Pretty Party

One of my very best friends, the one and only Amy P, got engaged on a recent trip to Mexico with her awesome guy, Stephen! Hooray! It only seemed right to throw her a special little engagement party, complete with pretty-bottled champagne, mini chocolate ganache cupcakes and salted black licorice, Amy's fave.

Aren't those little royal icing flowers so cute? They prettify absolutely anything. You could put them on a meatball and serve them at a tea party, that's how cute those little flowers are!!

Congratulations Burgertime!

Hello Lehlo!

mini whale cake for baby shower!

How cute is my crafty art pal Joanne and her incredible design skills? I love parties with a beautiful design sense, and parties with serious cuteness... such as this whale invite! I made a dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling, with a little fondant whale in the color themes of red and blue, and mini dark chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache and colorful sprinkles.

Such a beautiful story too... Joanne's friends Julian and Catherine have adopted a baby from South Africa and have named him Lehlo... beautiful picture of the two of them cutting the Coco Cake whale-topped cake...! Amazing.

The last two pics (and the pic of the lovely couple smooching!) are ones Joanne took of the party... love the set-up, the heart cupcake pics, the goodie bags and the whale/heart theme everywhere!

Congratulations Julian and Catherine on the new addition to your "pod"!
