Wedding Wonderful!

2011 is here and I've been inundated with many wonderful emails from many lovely sounding brides and grooms... here are some of my favourite wedding cupcake and cake pics from the last year... !

Speaking of weddings... I will be in the one and only Indie I Do wedding fair this Saturday, January 22nd at Heritage Hall here in Vancouver! (Incidentally the Hall where Rich and I got married four years ago! -- I've attached a picture here for sentimental value... hee!) Indie I Do is a superfun wedding fair, with a great underlying energy, for artsy and artful, vintage-look, alternative and crafty brides and grooms! So come on out this Saturday and meet me, Lyndsay, and my lovely assistant Sharon! I will also have cupcakes for sale!

Also, look for a month's worth of guest posts by little old me, Auntie Coco Cake, over at the AMAZING design blog Poppytalk, starting tomorrow! So cool! I'm excited since I've followed her blog for years and think it's so inspirational!

Bye for now Coco Cakers!

BroBro turns 3! My nephew Brody's birthday!

Brody! You turned 3 years old! What the heck! And you love fishies, and underwater stuff, and anything to do with the ocean and the aquarium!! So Auntie Coco Cake made you a fish themed vanilla birthday cake and matching vanilla and chocolate cupcakes in a yellow and blue stripey motif! And you had a blast and a half at your birthday partying it up in the gymnasium, ripping around in mini cars and climbing over jungle gyms and crawling through makeshift tunnels made of puffy oversized coloured blocks, then eating up your cheese and crackers and pieces of apple and carrots and stuff. And then the whole room sang Happy Birthday to you and you smiled, blew out the candles (sort of) and licked the frosting off a vanilla buttercream topped cupcake and it made Auntie Coco Cake very happy!

Happy Birthday to my little BroBro! Love you lots!

Year Of The Rabbit!

Happy Year Of The Rabbit everyone! And how handy dandy it is that I have this bunny cake to post, a cake I made for my awesome pal Cindy's birthday, which happened to fall on Christmas Eve. Cindy is an artist, animator and illustrator here in Vancouver, and together with her guy Marc, they created this adorable New Year's animation!

The cake was green tea with matcha green tea buttercream... ! I added the carrot to this bunny design which I thought was chuckles-and-giggles hilarious. CHOMP!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 everyone! I just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to visit and read my blog... I wish I could meet all of you and high five you in person! Your support of Coco Cake in 2010 was really amazing and I do appreciate it. More fun and exciting times ahead for me and my little crazy cake world in 2011... stay tuned!

This was a beautiful, special wintry December wedding between two lovely people, Laura and Adam! Laura is the incredible Music Together teacher who teaches my nephews and niece about music, instruments, singing, sounds, sharing and family. I had the pleasure of sitting in on a class with my nephew Brody a year ago and it was so sweet, and fun... and I could see how the children adored Laura with her warm, open personality and her lovely singing voice. Laura and Adam requested a Bird singing to a Fish cake for their wedding cake! And with lovely, simple dark chocolate mini cupcakes in silver liners, with white blobettes of frosting and delicate little silver pearls to adorn them. A sweet winter-inspired wedding for a kind and loving couple.

All the best Laura and Adam! And Happy New Year to all!
