Mr.Gray Owl in the houuuussse! I made this adorable gray owl cake DIY for Handmade Charlotte - click on over to Handmade Charlotte for the whole DIY. He would be an adorable addition to the Thanksgiving table, or the centrepiece for an owl or woodland themed birthday party.

The Bird Is The Word - Penguin Cake, Owl Cake

Penguin or owl - which would you rather be? Huddled in Arctic cold, waddling about with a ripping icy sheet wind blasting straight at your beak, but diving and gliding through water gorging on squid like a hot knife through ice cream? Or... burrowed in a tall tree, the night is your freedom, soaring wings through night air, glaring down at a scurrying mouse which will soon be a raw feast of fur and flesh in your talons?

Or... penguin faced cake with a TEDDY BEAR AND TWO OTHER MINI PENGUINS SITTING ON YOUR HEAD. This was the cutest request ever from my little buddies Kai and Xian- last year I made their birthday cakes - they wanted to order a special birthday cake (with the help of their mom Corrine, of course!) for their Dad! So sweet and so cute.

And... an owl cake for Maddy's birthday, ordered by her mom Miranda! I loved doing both of these cakes... both chocolate with fondant decorations. Bird cuteness all around.

I think I would choose to be a penguin, stone cold chilling on a block of ice with a crew of buddies eating sashimi. Or wait, would I rather be an owl, moving swiftly and surely from tree to tree in the night sky, eating mouse carpaccio??

Thanks Corrine and Miranda for the fun orders!

Caine's Owl In A Tree Birthday Cake!

Sweet Tracy emailed me to request a cute little cake for Caine's 1st birthday ... owlie! I adore owlie cakes so I was excited to create this. Dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant with owlie and tree design, with matching mini cupcakes, frosted with vanilla buttercream and dotted with rainbow sprinkles! Cute!

And a sweet little coincidence... on the same weekend, Caine's little cousin Juju got a Toy Story cake from Coco Cake as well, ordered by Lauren! Cuteness x 2.

Coco Cake Party Jams - Children's Cake Round-up!

Oh to Childrenland we go!

I would say Coco Cake's orders are a good 50% children's birthday parties... which I love. I teach kids art, I adore kids and find them hilarious... so I'm always super stoked to make something for a little cutie-pie maniac kid or that softspoken shy kid or that inquisitive, funny and always-holding-a-book kid... any kid, really.

So here are a few of Coco Cake's latest creations for kids! Enjoy!

Rosanna requested a special Sesame Street-ish birthday flag for her son's birthday cake...

Cookie Monster! Happy Birthday Daniel!

Dimithra ordered this 2 tiered cake for both her daughters' Fancy Nancy Valentines themed birthday party! Coco Cake's first tiered cake!

Super sweet and simple pink fondant heart topped cupcake to go with cake.

Happy Birthday Sapphira and Nyla! And thanks to my cake buddies April and Jennifer for their advice on making the two-tiered cake!

Last minute order from Christina for a monster-sized DRAGON CAKE for William's birthday!
I put the striped cupcake liners in the pic for size comparison. This guy was very heavy and time-consuming! But I thought he turned out pretty cute!!

Cute little stripey Happy Birthday William flag!

Scalloped fondant scales covered his whole body...
inside was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

Hoot hoot! An owl, star, moon and clouds cake for Kaiden's birthday!
With mini cupcakes to match!

I love that little star with the face on it. Too cute! A special star cupcake for Kaiden.

Cake side view. Inside was chocolate cake, chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream...

Crazy fun times in Coco Cake Land. Thank you to Rosanna, Dimithra, Christina and Peggy for these fun children's cake orders!

More posts to come... stay tuned...

Hoot Hoot! Brody Turns 2 Years Old!

party display!

Brody's 2nd birthday party!

sweet brody!!

How cute is my little nephew Brody??

Not even these little orange cupcake owlies are half as cute as Brody!

Awesome sign my sis Leanne made!
(she's also 5 months pregs! Go sis go!)

"I don't give a HOOT if I get eaten! No, really!"

Adorable crafty arty owlies... kid's parties at Collage Collage are so cute and fun...!

The work of Coco Cake, a.k.a L.K.S., also known as... "Auntie Lynsheee"

Hooray!! Happy Birthday singing with mama and dada!

"Easy does it, Bro...eaaassssy..." says Auntie Lyndsay... helping Bro cut his cake...

The cutest and slowest little cupcake bite you've ever seen... so slow and thoughtful with his eating...

Wah! Hard to believe my little nephew Brody is now 2 years old... remember last year's Totoro birthday for his 1st birthday?? For his birthday, my sis Leanne-- who is a designer with her own awesome card design business Patches & Charlie-- devised a very cute woodsy winter owl theme for Bro's birthday! I of course went with this theme for Brody's cake and matching cupcakes... hoot hoot! Orange Owlie! I made sure to put a "ball moon" on the cake too, one of Bro's sayings. "Ball moon! Ball moon!" The cupcakes were chocolate with vanilla buttercream, and lemon cupcakes with lemon creamcheese frosting, a family fave. The cake was chocolate with vanilla and decorated with fondant.

The party was held at the super lovely shop Collage Collage, with an owly storytime session and an art making session where the kids (with the help of adults!--2 year olds here!) made adorable giant grey owls.

Brody loved his kids party...! And I love my hilarious and supercute nephew BroBro! Happy 2nd Birthday Brody!

Love, Auntie Lyndsay
