My post on Owl Themed Cakes on Craftsy

Plus, a couple of cat-cake-head worthy Friday shout-outs (my slang is so brutally 1990s, sorry guys)

This modern holiday craft party from Studio DIY is so bubbly, bright and swinging - you'll want to throw on a record and start mashed potato-ing like, instantly.

Mini present gift advent calendar from You Are My Fave - fill em up with candy and treats! Jam mine with peanut butter cups, please!

Mer Mag's turkey Thanksgiving place setting buddy is so cheerful, simple and hilarious. Love his feathers!

Are you getting your holiday gifting on yet? You must take a look-see at the Poppytalk Handmade Market. It is truly where all the goods are.

Happy weekend, everyone - see you next week with more cakey goodness.

Cute Grassy Bunny Cake & Lavender Mini Cupcakes

I love this funny little cake with the mini white fondant bunny hiding in the grass! I love it especially too because it making it reminded me of how lucky I am to have such cool, caring and nice customers! I've made a few little numbers for the cake-loving Mack family over the years, and it was so nice to hear from Julie again! Her request: a bunny themed cake for a good friend's birthday, with lavender rosette mini cupcakes too. The cake was vanilla with raspberry jam filling and vanilla buttercream and I made a cute little colorful bunting to display on top of the cake, too. Love how a bunting can elevate a cake into a real party-time feel!

So Julie showed up to pick up the cake, and brought with her sweet presents for my almost 7-month-old baby Teddy! Soooo nice and thoughtful! We yacked it up for a good fifteen minutes, catching up and talking about baby stuff, and Julie held Teddy for a bit, too! He was pumped on his panda bear puffy book and cute owl blanket she brought... and I'm sure he drooled all over her!

Thank you so much Julie for the fun order, and again for the cute presents for Teddy!

Dashing Grey and Flamingo Pink

I have flamingo pink bath towels. We got them as wedding presents and I remember when we were choosing towels to put on our registry, it was the only thing that fired up my husband and I ... arguing over the colour of our future towels together. He wanted something mellower, maybe a grey blue or a chocolate brown. I saw these lush and bright Ralph Lauren flamingo pink towels and felt the need to aim the little beepbeep gift gun thingie at the tags.

Beebeep! Pink towels.

But we also got chocolate brown ones, too. Everyone wins!

It's been six years of flamingo pink and they're looking pretty raggedy these days. Towely threads coming off and just a well-worn look about them. And a new friend, dove grey bath towel, has moved into the bathroom.

An ode to the bathroom towels in cake form:

Roxanne & Laura's Lavender + Green Rosette Wedding!

My fellow Canadians - we live in a pretty amazing country, don't we? I thank the stars every day for being able to live in my city of Vancouver, having a job I love (every job has their bad days, don't get me wrong!), surrounded by both serene nature and sparkly metropolis, amongst close family and dear friends, with food to eat, a roof over my head and people to love. Yes, I am a lucky woman.

Roxanne and Laura decided Vancouver wasn't half-bad either - they traveled all the way from New York, bringing along their close family and friends, to be with them as they tied the knot in our fair city on a sunny day in September! For their quaint reception at Seasons In The Park, I made a tower of pretty two-toned vanilla buttercream rosette cupcakes and dark chocolate with chocolate buttercream in their wedding colours of pale lavender and light green. Pretty cute! And lookit that view... I must say, Seasons In The Park , the restaurant on the hill in Queen Elizabeth Park, has some of the nicest and most helpful staff around. I just want to give a little shout-out to them! Also thanks to Dreamgroup Productions, who did a lovely job of making the wedding come together.

And to Roxanne and Laura, many congratulations and all the best in your new married life together!

Pretty Baby Shower Cupcakes

raspberry jam filled vanilla cupcake!

My BFF Amy, who incidentally also works at the advertising agency TBWA, ordered a collection of pretty Coco Cake cupcakes for a baby shower for Jules at the office...

Pink rosette topped raspberry jam filled vanilla cupcakes, and vegan dark chocolate raspberry jam filled ganache covered cupcakes with hand-chopped sprinkles of Lindt dark chocolate! So pretty and so yummy! :)
