Pretty Pink Ruffle Mini Cupcakes

Here in Vancouver, the days are getting colder, the air crisp and the sidewalks slippery with a layer of icy frost. Can you believe December is on its way? Still, my winter pansies are blooming and the oven's on full blast practically every day. Baking, photographing, writing and then chomping away at my cake props.

Flowers in winter seem like such a luxury. It's nice to grow some even in the cold. 

Dark chocolate mini cupcakes with vanilla buttercream tinted the lightest ballerina tulle pink and dusted with teensy rainbow sprinkles. The cupcakes are so little I ate one with a sugar bowl teaspoon.

Dashing Grey and Flamingo Pink

I have flamingo pink bath towels. We got them as wedding presents and I remember when we were choosing towels to put on our registry, it was the only thing that fired up my husband and I ... arguing over the colour of our future towels together. He wanted something mellower, maybe a grey blue or a chocolate brown. I saw these lush and bright Ralph Lauren flamingo pink towels and felt the need to aim the little beepbeep gift gun thingie at the tags.

Beebeep! Pink towels.

But we also got chocolate brown ones, too. Everyone wins!

It's been six years of flamingo pink and they're looking pretty raggedy these days. Towely threads coming off and just a well-worn look about them. And a new friend, dove grey bath towel, has moved into the bathroom.

Hot Pink Cupcakes For A Hot Lady

One of my growing gang of loyal customers, Charlene, had a specific request for a friend's birthday: "Coconut cupcakes, hot pink icing with white and red hearts decoration!". I am thinking this is one hot lady who got to receive these adorable cupcakes! Aren't those dark brown cupcake liners hot-to-trot too? I love cupcake liners so much... just ask my husband Rich... I had to do an intervention on myself because I was stockpiling them so hard.

I also took this opportunity to take some snaps of my brand new, sparklingly gorgeous, 6 tiered, white, round plated cupcake stand!! Yay! Crazy old Pinky the Pup (the vintage dog toy) had to sneak into the pictures too of course, as he (yep, Pinky's a "he!") is perfectly coordinated to match the cupcakes.
