Hot Pink Cupcakes For A Hot Lady

One of my growing gang of loyal customers, Charlene, had a specific request for a friend's birthday: "Coconut cupcakes, hot pink icing with white and red hearts decoration!". I am thinking this is one hot lady who got to receive these adorable cupcakes! Aren't those dark brown cupcake liners hot-to-trot too? I love cupcake liners so much... just ask my husband Rich... I had to do an intervention on myself because I was stockpiling them so hard.

I also took this opportunity to take some snaps of my brand new, sparklingly gorgeous, 6 tiered, white, round plated cupcake stand!! Yay! It can be adjusted to any height and fits a whole lot of cupcakes. This is now available for rental for your wedding and party needs along with your dazzling and delicious Coco Cake cupcakes! Contact me for details!

Crazy old Pinky the Pup (the vintage dog toy) had to sneak into the pictures too of course, as he (yep, Pinky's a "he!") is perfectly coordinated to match the cupcakes. Also pictured on the bottom photograph: my awesome sis Leanne's beautiful letterpressed gift tag! Leanne will be launching her announcement card design business soon so stay tuned! For now check out her super cute blog dedicated to her love of letterpress.

Love, love lovin' the hot fuschia pink, and took many pics... As you can see... More to come as the Coco Cake weekend unfolds...

1980s Pastel Cupcakes

What was I doing in the 1980s?

Walking around all cool as a cucumber with my Expo '86 passport in an Expo Ernie tshirt and probably one of those plastic doo-hickey necklaces that look like giant pills that you can store dollar bills in (remember those days before the golden loonie?? Greenie dollar bills!), singing EXTRA LOUD at Studio '86 to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" drowning out my own sister on her birthday recording session.

Taping LG73 radio on my black cassette mini ghetto blaster. Listening to my PJammer clock radio with the "bed buds" in my ears.

Drinking Super Socco and eating Chippopity.

Falling asleep at the Jackson Family Victory Tour at BC Place with a sparkly silver glove on one hand.

"Where The Wild Things Are" Cake!

Fun fun times! Moishe, the yellow eyed monster dude from "Where The Wild Things Are", was the request for today's cake of the day. Chocolate cake with peppermint buttercream covered in fondant, and Coco Cake's rendition of Moishe's hilarious face.

To make Moishe, first I baked, cooled and frosted (with peppermint buttercream) a 7 inch chocolate layer cake. Next I covered the cake with white fondant for a smooth finish. Next I made the eyeballs, nose and teeth using fondant. Then I used food coloring to transform the icy cool white buttercream into two colors of "hair." Using a "grass" frosting tip, I mixed the two frosting colors in the same bag, then piped the hair onto Moishe's face, making sure to give him long bangs that poke into his eyeballs-- just like me!!! Because Moishe has a stripey shirt, I made sure the cake board was striped and the ribbon was striped too.

Happy Birthday Lisa!! Hope you were surprised!
