Pig Man Of Alcatraz

Have you ever seen Clint Eastwood in Escape From Alcatraz? It's a real winner.

This King Pig cake - I'm not so sure he could stealthily and sneakily escape from one of the most notorious prisons in the world the way that Clint Eastwood did in the film. King Pig might bumble around and crash into things, and surely his oinking and snorting would give away his position. However, those pigs have managed to continuously steal egg after egg from some super mad, super Angry Birds so maybe they are smarter than I give them credit for! Yes, I'm just assuming many of you know that terribly addictive and hilarious little video game...

This cake was a 7 inch round chocolate cake with peppermint buttercream, ordered by Vanessa for her husband's Steve's birthday. Vanessa also requested two little angry birds on top of the cake ... those little birds are totally pestering that big old green pig!

Thanks Vanessa for the fun order!

Autumn Love - Cake Romance!

It's been a busy beaver Fall for Coco Cake indeed. Here is a round-up of some Fall-in-love cakes and cupcakes... !

Lindsay and Greg's lovely, simple dark chocolate vegan and gluten free wedding cupcakes at the Brock House in Vancouver! I adore the uniformity, red color blast and cuteness a single berry topper can give to a grouping of lovely cupcakes.

An anniversary cake for one of my favourite wedding couples from last year, Jeanie and Ian!

And the sweetest card they gave me to thank me.
Yes, J uses a typewriter to write letters and cards... love it!

Denalda's 50th birthday bash at the Granville Island Hotel - loving how all of those lovely minis looked nestled closely on their stand - dark chocolate with vanilla buttercream, raspberry topped vanilla cupcakes with ruffle-puff frosting, and lemon cupcakes with lemon creamcheese frosting!

A green tea buttercream frosted, anko red bean filling cake for Pax's birthday!

Julie and David's foresty Fall wedding day at SFU's Diamond Alumni Center.
David made the cool stand!

Sweet little mini cupcakes for Natalie's 30th birthday at Canvas Lounge in Vancouver... a place where you can party and paint at the same time!

Thank you lovely Coco Cake customers!

See you all soon, blog world! Lots more to come! xo Lyndsay

The Rainbow Connection - Kai's Birthday

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection... the lovers, the dreamers and me!

So says Kermit. A pretty and hopeful song. Love the tinkly twang of the banjo. The Muppet Show is a pretty awesome and hilarious show. Characters of all types and colors partying together and singing songs. Miss Piggy and Kermit? A big beautiful and strong pig-woman with a fey, diminutive little greenie frog man? Pretty great. Here's a link of Kermit singing a duet with yes, Debbie Harry of Blondie!

I made these lovely pastel rainbow cupcakes for Kai's birthday. He had a seriously FUN sounding birthday, according to his mom Sarah: "an all boys adventure into wild, crazy, messy activities - Tie dye shirts. Whip cream pie throw. Water balloons. Jello eating, no hands. Goop play ( colored water + cornstarch)."

I adore the sound of this party... letting boys be boys but also showing them the sheer fun and joy of making stuff - tie dye shirts are pure magic! Not a video game or computer in sight!

I thought these rainbow cupcakes would be a nice addition to the fun - colorful, wacky and tie-dye looking without being overly literal about the party theme. They were fun to make, as always! Rainbow cupcakes are magical too!

'Til next time, blog world!

Oro The Cowboy's 1st Birthday!

Oh cuteness. Rob and Anna's little super cutie Oro turned 1... and what better way to celebrate than a COWBOY themed party? Oro had two birthday parties to celebrate, and also TWO cakes by yours truly, Coco Cake! The first was a very hilarious old-timey, winking cowboy vanilla cake... I love his smiley happy face and little green bandana, and especially his giant frosting sideburns! The second was a simple but brightly colored "record" cake in vanilla with raspberry jam filling, with a little wooden candle holder topper provided by Anna ... isn't that topper adorable??

Anna sent me some supercute pics of her little guy and his birthday parties! Happy 1st birthday little Oro! Also, many thanks to Rob and Anna for having Coco Cake be a part of Oro's birthday! ^__^

Roxanne & Laura's Lavender + Green Rosette Wedding!

My fellow Canadians - we live in a pretty amazing country, don't we? I thank the stars every day for being able to live in my city of Vancouver, having a job I love (every job has their bad days, don't get me wrong!), surrounded by both serene nature and sparkly metropolis, amongst close family and dear friends, with food to eat, a roof over my head and people to love. Yes, I am a lucky woman.

Roxanne and Laura decided Vancouver wasn't half-bad either - they traveled all the way from New York, bringing along their close family and friends, to be with them as they tied the knot in our fair city on a sunny day in September! For their quaint reception at Seasons In The Park, I made a tower of pretty two-toned vanilla buttercream rosette cupcakes and dark chocolate with chocolate buttercream in their wedding colours of pale lavender and light green. Pretty cute! And lookit that view... I must say, Seasons In The Park , the restaurant on the hill in Queen Elizabeth Park, has some of the nicest and most helpful staff around. I just want to give a little shout-out to them! Also thanks to Dreamgroup Productions, who did a lovely job of making the wedding come together.

And to Roxanne and Laura, many congratulations and all the best in your new married life together!
