Autumn Love - Cake Romance!

It's been a busy beaver Fall for Coco Cake indeed. Here is a round-up of some Fall-in-love cakes and cupcakes... !

Lindsay and Greg's lovely, simple dark chocolate vegan and gluten free wedding cupcakes at the Brock House in Vancouver! I adore the uniformity, red color blast and cuteness a single berry topper can give to a grouping of lovely cupcakes.

An anniversary cake for one of my favourite wedding couples from last year, Jeanie and Ian!

And the sweetest card they gave me to thank me.
Yes, J uses a typewriter to write letters and cards... love it!

Denalda's 50th birthday bash at the Granville Island Hotel - loving how all of those lovely minis looked nestled closely on their stand - dark chocolate with vanilla buttercream, raspberry topped vanilla cupcakes with ruffle-puff frosting, and lemon cupcakes with lemon creamcheese frosting!

A green tea buttercream frosted, anko red bean filling cake for Pax's birthday!

Julie and David's foresty Fall wedding day at SFU's Diamond Alumni Center.
David made the cool stand!

Sweet little mini cupcakes for Natalie's 30th birthday at Canvas Lounge in Vancouver... a place where you can party and paint at the same time!

Thank you lovely Coco Cake customers!

See you all soon, blog world! Lots more to come! xo Lyndsay

Ayla & Tony Cuteness!

wheee! i love photo set-ups!! :)

Ayla and Tony got married in Maui. LUCKY, right? Then flew home to a stylish reception at Vancouver's the Diamond bar. Coco Cake was a part of the festivities... dark chocolate gluten free and vegan cupcakes, topped with dark chocolate ganache and pretty white coconut. The Diamond is a lovely space, tall ceilings, tons of natural light and wood accents, a perfect mixture of vintage feel, keeping the sense of history of its origins in Gastown, and luxe but unpretentious modernity. You can tell an establishment is cared for when there is beautiful arrangements of fresh flowers.

Back to Ayla and Tony!!! You can tell they have a lovely sense of style... from the envelopes they sent in the mail to me. Ahhhdorable. Even taped up with fancy designed scotch tape. Love it. Ayla sent me an email post-wedding with this note:
"The cupcakes were amazing and everyone loved them!
They were SO delicious!"
So happy to be a part of their lovely day!

Congratulations you two! :)

When Cool Kids Get Married: Sara & Mike

dark chocolate gluten free vegan wedding cupcakes!

Sara contacted me a few months ago with hopes that I could possibly make some delicious gluten free, dairy free cupcakes for her and her man for their wedding day. After a trial run of 1 dozen (it was my first attempt at gluten free cupcakes! I used white rice flour and a bit of xantham gum), Sara thought they were delicious and secured Coco Cake for her and Mike's wedding. Sara sent me their wedding website with some tough and cool engagement photos by Sakura Photography! as seen above! I dig that puddle photo. Cool eh?

I just love doing weddings. It really feels like an honour to be a part of someone's special day. I know I say this a lot but it's a really great feeling!! I'm happy I've found a career (so far-- those who know me know I have job A.D.D.) that I can be stoked on: creativity, FOOD, and working with people... pretty dreamy. Another dream job I had like ten years ago was to be a lipstick namer. That seems like it would be really fun. Cherry Overcast Day, Malibu Peach Bikini, Purple Moon...

The last picture is of the cupcakes on their fancy white stand, all decked out, set up and ready to be chomped in a wedding-happy fervor. Happy happy wedding times Sara and Mike! All the best to you!
